Valvular heart disease encompasses any disease of the four calves in the heart. They are the Aortic valve, the Mitral Valve, the Tricuspid valve and the Pulmonic valve.
What is the most commonly affected area?
The most commonly affected in adults are the aortic and the mitral valves. However, tricuspid valve disease is increasing in incidence. The pulmonary valve is rarely of concern in adults.
