Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Less Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Over 99 percent of bypass operations are done through a sternal splitting incision. This allows complete access to the heart and is required for most multi vessel bypass operations.

In some patients who have more limited blockages we are able to do the bypass through tiny incisions in the left chest, between the ribs with the davinci robot, thereby avoiding the sternal incisions. These operations are done without the “pump” or bypass machine.

Patients that have robotic bypass surgery recover faster. (two weeks versus two months, have less pain, require fewer transfusions and have a lower risk of wound infection).
