For 35 years Dr. John Harlan has been a dedicated member of the Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons’ team and currently serves as President of the group. Dr. Harlan received his Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Notre Dame. He subsequently completed his medical education from the University of South Florida, his surgical training at the University of Alabama Hospital, studying General Surgery and completed his Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Harlan’s particular clinical interests include Cardiopulmonary Surgery and Heart Valve Surgery.
He is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. His Board Certifications include The American Board of Surgery and The American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the medical staff at Grandview Medical Center.
Dr. Harlan is an active member of Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The Medical Association of the State of Alabama, Jefferson County Medical Society and The American Medical Association.
